Driving from Dallas to Sante Fe via an overnight in Amarillo, so we had a lot of time on our hands on day 1 to stop in local places and browse/snack. Ballyhoo is one of our best small town
finds in recent memory. Not only do they serve standout coffee, espresso, pie (Derby!!!) and scones (best wife ever had) they also have a huge higher end retail section with house accoutrements, clothes, some home furnishings, and odds and ends. By all means, if you're driving thru Childress, stop here. You'll thank me (and the dozens of other reviewers who gave it a well deserved 5* review). -

One cafe that is completely unique in its appearance from inside, its selection of items for sale, and coffee/tea.
You can literally find anything here, though a lot of it is just for ambience. For example, there is a vintage washing machine outside. A stove that is being used as a table. Some deep freezers being used as storage. They also have unique pieces for purchase. There is no common theme here, you'll just have to look and something might click.
The walls of the cafe are made with the same tin sheet that is used to make roofs. They have used flattened cardboard boxes to insulate the walls. Inside the bathroom you'll find newspaper clippings used as wallpaper. There is a urinal that is under a mantle. On the mantle are about 7 moisturizers that you can try.
They have a very good selection of coffees and teas as well as flavored syrups making their selection endless. Their selection of cakes and cookies is also very appetizing, although we didn't try any.
It's a nice place to stop if you are travelling from Dallas to Amarillo and beyond. -

STOP HERE! You don't want to miss this gem in Childress. We are driving through from Alabama to Colorado and this place has a very Chip and Joanna Gaines antique shop feel. So sweet!!

Bucket list must-do for anyone and everyone: Roadtrip across Texas. Stop in Childress. Get a coffee and peruse this quirky, cute little coffee-antique-shop-combo.
Ballyhoo is the kind of place that makes all these tiny Texas towns such a neat experience. The coffee is always on point, and you can find something for pretty much anyone in their shop. Our most recent trip happened to fall on a "Shop Small" sale weekend so my adorable little serving pitcher and pig salt & pepper shakers were 25% off. Basically you can find anything here that you'd find in Magnolia Market except it's 60% cheaper (aka reasonable) and you won't get tackled by a mob of people fighting over a bundle of raw cotton. The ladies that run this place are so much fun, and their personality comes out in each and every detail of the store (you'll know what I mean when you visit). -
